Higher Education Commission (HEC) has recognized the GC University research organ Journal of Social Sciences. It was formally informed in a HEC letter to the editor. The Vice Chancellor Dr. A.M.Khalid has congratulated the editor Mr. Ghulam Ghous for this unique achievement and hoped that the Journal would continue to focus on the quality of research articles and follow the HEC criteria to make it one of the best social sciences journals of South Asian countries. Its advisory editorial board is consisted of eminent national and international scholars which include Prof. Susan Buck-Morrs of Cornell University, New York, USA, Dr. Anwar H. Syed of University of Massachusetts, , Dr. Sikandar Hayat of National Management College, Lahore and Dr. Massarrat Abid, Director Pakistan Study Center Lahore. The journal is being published as an annual publication for the last five years and the selection and publication process of the articles is made in the light of HEC policy guidelines. It was also intimated in the letter that after the recognition the journal would be entitled to have the financial assistance of Rs.250,000/-per annum from the HEC. The Journal has been acclaimed for the quality of its articles and published material by the national and international scholars even before its recognition by the HEC.

The Journal is the first Social Sciences Journal of any of the university of Faisalabad which has been recognized by the HEC. The editor of the Journal, Mr.Ghulam Ghous, has expressed his thanks to the HEC and hoped that the recognition would not only enhance the prestige of the Journal and the image of the University but also furnish a reputable and authentic forum to the researchers and scholars for the publication of their research accomplishments.
