Government College University Faisalabad was chartered by the Government of Punjab in 2002. This is very new and the only general university in the central Punjab that is growing fastly and accommodating more than 39000 students at present. Many innovative, need based cross cutting academic programmes have been introduced in this University within short span of its establishment and many more are expected to be launched very soon. This will help to meet the ever growing needs of fast growing textile industrial hub, commercial centre and business cosmopolitan city of Faisalabad in particular and for the central Punjab in general. The University has now entered into consolidation and coordinating phase.
The Directorate of Advanced Studies has been established to stream line the functioning of different programmes that have been either already launched at all academic disciplines or to be launched in near future. This Directorate has been given the mandate to facilitate all the graduate and post-graduate students for their admission, enrollment, approval of supervisory committees, approval of synopsis, approval and organization of defense of synopsis and thesis.
The Directorate of Advanced studies has also been entrusted with the task to prepare and recommend new rules and procedures to further strengthen and improve the academic discipline in the light of different directives and precedents of Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. This Directorate is striving hard and burning mid night oil for achieving excellence and ensuring authenticity, transparency, competitiveness and timely completion of all degree programmes within the stipulated period. We are confident, optimistic and sincerely hope that the incoming students for higher studies in GC University, Faisalabad shall find pleasant and learning environment at the campus and shall also find their alma mater quite conducive and helpful for completing their study work and doing post-graduate research work.
Weekend Programs
The worthy Vice Chancellor has taken an initiative of weekend program. He is ambitious to provide and environment with professional and job holders to get in intellectual and physical infrastructure that holds them to the highest moral and ethical value. The fundamental purpose of this program is to make higher education possible for job holders and professionals to fulfill their organization and institutional requirements with focus of modern need on Saturdays and Sundays.
Age limit for weekend program is up to 45 years.
ONLINE PROCESSING OF SYNOPSIS AND THESIS OF MPhil & PhD STUDENTS
Directorate of Advanced Studies Alhamdulillah has launched online processing / submission of synopsis and thesis of MPhil & PhD students first ever in university. The IT Manager has developed the software including all steps from synopsis processing to final thesis submission. Complete guideline is available on website for students as well as faculty. Now student enabled to submit their synopsis and thesis through their student portal. All approvals will be carried out online and final manual copy will be submitted to DAS with signatures. This system will generate pdf file, on spot plagiarism test and standard format of first pages. This fast track facility will be available for student and faculty 24 hours.
